The Auckland Library of Tools (ALoT), located in Newton, Auckland City, is a not for profit lending library, run by volunteers. We provide members with a range of tools and equipment for home renovation, gardening, events, camping, woodwork, textiles and cooking. We promote and organise sharing, and want to help people do more while owning and spending less. For more about how it all works have a read here.

Anyone is welcome to join ALoT or volunteer with us!

 

We share a building with Hackland, a fully equipped makerspace. While ALoT is located inside Hackland, we are separate organisations which you’d need to join individually.

The library is a non-profit organisation, run by volunteers, and sustained by our membership fees. If you like what we’re doing, and would like to support us, we’d greatly appreciate whatever you can give. Donations go towards the purchase of new tools, maintenance, and operational costs.

 
New tools alert! @stihl_nz have hooked us up with three fancy new cordless gardening tools, a mower, line trimmer and hedge trimmer. We are open today, 11am - 1pm for all your borrowing needs. We'd suggest you reserve these online first as our garden
Now we are in Level 1 and parties are back on, and with Plastic Free July around the corner, come and borrow our reusable party kit! Our kit has reusable plates, cups and bowls, and we also have a few strings of bunting for loan also! We'll be addin
One of detail sanders is spending the day tidying up some tiny house storage stairs! We are open til 1pm, come borrow some tools!
New tool alert! Item 643: Cordless Garden Multi Tool. Attachments include: - chainsaw - hedge trimmer - brush cutter -line trimmer - 1 m extension pole We are open today 11am - 1pm, come and borrow!
Item number 650: Fibre Cement Sheet Cutter. Ideal for cutting cement sheeting and tile underlay. We also have tile cutters, so if you're doing some tiling come and borrow these!
Shout out to Niko who borrowed 2 step ladders and an extending ladder, taking them home on his bike with our trailer! 🚴‍♂️

We’re always on the lookout for new tools, storage solutions and equipment. Our library stocks tools for building and construction, as well as gardening, textiles, jewellery making and more.
